Over the weekend, I had the chance to attend one of their events myself with Panchami Ghavri (Casting Director). I have been following Cininfo since April 2023. It has given me an idea of how the industry operates through its engaging webinars and networking sessions—something that would have been challenging to achieve on my own at this pace. Initially, I was drawn to the platform by the idea of several renowned industry professionals being invited to share their expertise and insights for free during interactive webinars. Later, what caught my attention was a well-spoken individual Dina with a corporate background trying to build a platform for artists like me. Her words were genuine, and practical and made perfect sense to me. Furthermore, the way Dina and Raghav conducted sessions with industry experts, addressing the doubts and insecurities of artists, truly drew me in. These experiences inspired me to become a paid member of the Cininfo community, participate in their expert-led writing and filmmaking workshops, and secure an internship with one of the experts.
Thank you, Cininfo! Through this association, I’m hopeful that more good things will come my way in the coming year.

The producing workshop by Miriam Joseph was an in-depth, practical, and candid sharing of her extensive knowledge on the business of filmmaking.My biggest takeaway was that while filmmaking is undoubtedly a capital-intensive endeavor, it is equally driven by craft and a genuine love for the medium, which inspires people to be part of it. The workshop's design was open-ended, avoiding a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach. I’m grateful I participated and look forward to applying these insights on set soon.

Taking the "Art and Businesses of Film Production" class by Miriam Joseph was a great experience for me as a cinematographer. Miriam taught me a lot about the business and legal side of filmmaking, which is often ignored but really important. I also learned what producers look for in a cinematographer, both creatively and professionally, which helped me understand how to present myself better. Miriam explained everything clearly and made the session enjoyable. I’d recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn how to connect creativity with the business side of filmmaking!

Being a poet, author, and screenwriter newly transitioning to pitching my scripts, after visiting the Goa Film Bazaar 2024, I realised I needed to know the macro blueprint of the whole filmmaking process to place pieces of information I receive into an understandable framework — which began with this workshop. Indebted to Miriam’s candid, sharp, and lucid style. Her breadth of experience synopsised into crackling nutshells is the hallmark of an inspiring and highly effective teacher. I really wish it were much longer in duration (at least twice as much) as he has a treasure trove of rich, hands-on experience or writing the best of scripts and also a vast knowledge of the inner-workings of movie-scripts that have been loved by the audience when they first released and have also survived the test of time...

I recently had the pleasure of attending an intensive online workshop conducted by the talented screenwriter Sumit Purohit. The experience was truly enlightening, as it opened up new dimensions in the way we write and approach creating a series or a feature. Sumit's anecdotes about the writing process were both helpful and insightful, providing valuable perspectives that I hadn't considered before.
One of the highlights of the workshop was the one-on-one personal session with Sumit. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage directly with someone of such great skill and experience. Although the workshop comprised only two sessions, I found them immensely valuable and wished they could have lasted longer. Nevertheless, I left with a wealth of knowledge and cherished memories that will undoubtedly influence my writing journey moving forward.

Sometimes it is extremely necessary to show your craft and take feedback from experts. And hence, I have attended Panchami Ghavri's online sessions, where I not only got to learn so many new things, but also had the opportunity to show my audition clip and receive feedback on it from her. Panchami, as we all know, is the Queen of Casting in Bollywood, with so much of experience. She made sure each actor would get individual response from her, and understand where we are lacking and how to make it better! There's so much I personally learnt from those days of her sessions, and now I would try to use them in upgrading my acting skills. It was an absolute wonderful experience organised by Cininfo Team, and I am glad I could connect with so many other talented artists from all around the world! I would definitely want to be a part of such sessions always!

I attended a 2 day online workshop with Panchmi Ghavri regarding the much mysterious auditioning and casting process. It was one of the most superb and sincere learning experiences for me. Panchmi really did her best and put in all her energy to make sure all participants are equally catered to and patiently answered all the doubts. Her friendly non judgmental and extremely open and encouraging manner helped ease the nerves that are obviously present in a space full of aspiring actors and one casting director. She broke that barrier well to begin with. And from there on it was smooth sailing. There were people from all over the world there and soon there was a sense of community amongst all present there. The format was incredible. For someone who is working on the art of cracking auditions and spending their free time wondering what casting people want, it was superb to see 25 different actor's takes on the same audition with Panchmi then dissecting each one and explaining what works or what doesn't. Very helpful format in knowing how in and around the shot one is. And her analysis was detailed and patient. Even though the session went on to 3.5 hours instead of 2 she did justice to each and everyone. And while at it, she also kept pushing for all to not see it as separate works but to try and see a pattern in the auditions of what was commonly working in the ones it was. And the most gracious part was how equally warm and welcoming she was to participants who were just starting out (some even in their 50s) without overtly criticizing and being harsh but still driving home to them how what they were doing was off make with a side note of encouragement that if they keep at it they will improve. The co-ordination and communication by team Cininfo (Dina, Vishal and others) was very good. They were mid-point for it all and were very prompt in response and help and I believe there is some post workshop support too. To any aspiring artist who is finding his/her feet, I would strongly recommend Cininfo and courses by them. Wishing you guys good luck

And with the zeal to learn I attended the Film Financing workshop by Miriam, it gives a detailed peek into a major section of filmmaking, The Producer’s role, I gained informative insights on this as Miriam taught the course in such a structured way, that it felt natural to learn about the producer’s role and she shared so many experiences from her own work, which I was able relate to and identify where I need to strengthen my skills as a Producer. She took proper time in engaging with the class and answered so many questions, so that even a smallest doubt of anyone was cleared with her response. The 4 day course is designed well so that even if you have no experience in the field, you will finish the workshop with the basic understanding, knowledge and confidence to be a part of a film producers team - the team which ensures that the financier’s money is spent wisely. I recently had the privilege of attending a screenwriting and pitching workshop with Sumit Purohit, and it was an incredibly enriching experience. Sumit's insights into writing for art versus commerce were particularly enlightening. His perspective that crafting a commercial film is often more challenging than creating something personal resonated deeply with me.
Sumit's generosity in sharing his development process, including screen grabs of notes and pre-production documents like script outlines, provided a unique and practical look into the filmmaking journey. One of the highlights was adapting a short story into a screenplay and receiving personalized feedback from Sumit himself. His constructive critiques and guidance were invaluable, coming from someone who has created lasting work in the Indian film industry.
